Quite early after arriving in that quirky virtual world that is Second Life, I did run into people who made a point of taking pictures there, either for their personal collection, decorative purposes or even to share with others.
When I saw the first tools that were made specifically to help with taking pictures there, I realized quickly that this actually was something that went beyond mere "screen caps", and that there were plenty of options regarding camera and lighting available.
This did pique my curiosity, especially since I had dabbled into real world photography a bit back in my teens -- back when courses still taught you how to develop your own film and how prints are made in the darkroom. So I dusted off what little knowledge I accumulated back then and applied it to the process of taking "virtual" photographs.
